Position Overview
As a Category Manager, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the UK Procurement vision by leading the delivery of market strategy, governance, and policies. This senior commercial position will be responsible for developing, implementing, and delivering category strategies across the professional services category, focusing on strategic sourcing, content expertise, and value delivery while actively managing supplier risks and issues.
Responsibilities
Lead and develop sourcing initiatives for assigned category
Provide category expertise to focus on strategic sourcing and value delivery
Actively manage significant risks and issues with suppliers
Support Category Specialists in developing and communicating sourcing strategies
Draw upon and develop fact-based negotiation plans
Work closely with internal stakeholders to ensure successful commercial outcomes
Draft contracts and ensure familiarity with contract law
Requirements
Graduate degree (e.g., BA, BSc, MEng) or higher (e.g., MA)
MCIPS or equivalent professional qualification
Evidence of continued professional development
Significant category management experience in a related industry or blue-chip organisation
Proven ability to deliver savings through strategic category planning
Experienced negotiator proficient at operating at a senior level
Industry and marketplace experience, including knowledge of relevant legislation
Contract and supplier relationship management expertise
Recent experience leading cross-functional/business unit teams
