Procurement Manager - Major Projects

We are seeking an experienced Purchasing professional with a stable background and experience delivering end-to-end high value construction and infrastructure procurements to join this public sector procurement team. 

 

A long-term permanent opportunity has become available with this highly regarded organisation for a proven self-starter with Major Projects experience and the ability to deliver large and complex public procurements.  

 

Within your role as Procurement Manager, you’ll have responsibility for ensuring that all aspects of the procurement cycle are planned and managed in consultation with the Procurement Lead to meet the programme delivery timelines. 

 

These responsibilities will include: 

  • Stakeholder engagement 
  • Market analysis 
  • Supplier selection 
  • Formulating strategy 
  • Developing and delivering high quality procurement documents 
  • Evaluation and contract award with a well-developed understanding of the bidding process 

 

You will be familiar with competitive negotiation, and you’ll have excellent communication skills combined with the ability to work closely with your peers in delivering concurrent projects to tight deadlines. 

 

Initially you will have no direct reports, but with anticipated line management responsibilities in the future you will be someone with the ability to provide practical advice and strategic direction to your peers. 

 

Additional responsibilities will include: 

  • Working closely with both the Project Delivery and Commercial Delivery Teams across a matrix management structure. 
  • Working with Senior Leaders to develop both project and company-wide continuous improvement in procurement practice. 
  • Working flexibly with an office base at one of several locations in London, Greater London, the Home Counties & the West Midlands.  You will have a great deal of work-from-home flexibility, but there will also be a requirement for you to be flexible with regular nationwide travel.

 

You will have a strong understanding of governance and legislation surrounding procurement, and knowledge of public procurement regulations is essential.

Procurement Manager - UK

My client is a Global Customer Service & BPO organisation based in the West Midlands.  They are looking for a Procurement Manager in the UK with indirect sourcing expertise. This is a very exciting opportunity for the right individual to join them, and manage the corporate services spend in a leading organisation.

Reporting to the EMEA Head of Procurement the role involves:

  • Building relationships with key divisions and individuals to ascertain and understand stakeholder, business and customer requirements, strategy, challenges and opportunities. 
  • Develop sourcing strategies & create a network of vendors for the country/region
  •  
  • Developing and delivering a procurement plan that aligns to the wider sourcing plan and delivers savings/ROI and other value-added benefits
  • Developing policies and procedures that add value within their business culture

You should have the following knowledge & experience:

  • Knowledge of relevant supply markets will be advantageous.  Personally managed a wide range of Corporate Services areas of spend (e.g, HR, Professional Services, Travel, Legal, Tax and Operations)
  • Excellent business knowledge and awareness
  • Evidence of working in a non-mandated environment and penetrating difficult areas of spend where there may have been significant initial stakeholder resistance
  • Experience in developing best practice governance, procedures and policies which protect the business from risk

Ideally, you should have the following skills:

  • Procurement technical skills including negotiation skills, contract drafting, drafting of relevant RfPs etc and use of category management techniques in setting category plans
  • The ability to draw together requirements across multiple or individual business units and gain consensus on the procurement plan from the business
  • Excellent interpersonal/influencing skills
  • Excellent organisational and project management skills. 
  • Demonstrate you are a team player, a good networker who will add value to any team

Procurement Compliance Manager

My Client, a leading Consulting firm is currently recruiting a Procurement Compliance Manager.  the role can be based in either Birmingham, Leeds, Newcastle or Manchester. The role reports to the Head of Procurement. The Procurement Compliance Manager will manage the procurement compliance process across the different practices of the consultancy.

You will collaborate and be supported by the Procurement, Finance & Tax teams as well as working with the Project Directors, Practice Leads, Project Managers and Procurement Managers.

Key responsibilities

  • Act as the first point of contact for ‘buyers’ when they are considering supplier options

  • escalation of any risks to appropriate team – Legal, Tax, Finance, further within Procurement
  • Post procurement - actively managing the supply chain to continually assess and audit ongoing risks to intervals agreed and amended from time to time.

Experiences required

  • Experience of providing a procurement/supply chain or similar compliance internal service in a complex environment
  • Knowledge of supply chain/procurement compliance processes – SRM, Business Integrity, contracts, pre-qualification, frameworks and implementation of standards - will be an advantage
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills, adept at working with a broad range of stakeholders at all levels and able to arrive at a mutually acceptable solution
  • Possess a positive, flexible and pragmatic approach to work
