Senior Contracts Manager - EPC/ Construction

Reporting to the Capex Director, this is an excellent opportunity to develop, shape, implement and monitor projects for a portfolio of Capital Projects. The Senior Contracts Manager will be responsible for negotiating contracts and lead on procurement activities.

The senior Contract manager will have the ability to develop relationships. They will have experience in driving change and implementing new commercial strategies. They will have recent experience working with 3rd party EPCM contractors ensuring contractual agreements are suitable whilst putting performance measures in place to track delivery.

 

The key elements of the role:

  • Optimisation and implementation of the project contracting strategy ensuring all capital projects are defined
  •  Leading, and  supporting contract negotiations
  • Supplier management, focusing on performance management of EPC consultants and executing procurement to contract close out.
  • Coaching / Training of internal staff & external suppliers in SRM and Contract Management best practice
  • Deliver regular reporting on Procurement performance to the leadership and project teams

Ideal Experience Required:

  • Extensive experience in procurement, especially capital project procurement, supply chain or similar experience is required
  • Experience with EPCM contract strategy framing and management
  • Ability to successfully manage and demonstrate strong leadership skills
  • Knowledge and high-level understanding of category, capital, and services projects
  • Excellent interpersonal/influencing skills, particularly in stakeholder engagement
  • Project Management skills

My client is a Fortune 500 Global Retail organisation based in Hertfordshire.  I am assisting them with an Indirect Category Manager. They are looking for someone to develop and assist with the Indirect categories.

Reporting to the Category Manager the role involves:

  • Building relationships with key divisions and individuals to ascertain and understand stakeholder, business and customer requirements, strategy, challenges and opportunities. 
  • Developing and delivering a procurement plan that aligns with the wider sourcing plan and delivers savings/ROI and other value-added benefits
  • Developing policies and procedures that add value to their business culture

You should have the following knowledge & experience:

  • Knowledge of relevant supply markets will be advantageous.  Personally, managed a wide range of areas of spend (e.g., Utilities, Energy, Logistics & Ticketing)
  • Excellent business knowledge and awareness
  • Evidence of working in a non-mandated environment and penetrating difficult areas of spend where there may have been significant initial stakeholder resistance
  • Ideally educated to degree level or equivalent and MCIPS
  • Experience in developing best practice governance, procedures and policies which protect the business from risk

My Client, a leading Technology company is for a Buyer with experience in sourcing electrical components and sourcing in Asia and the Far East.

You’ll be expected to:          
 

  • Lead in the purchase and supply of procured goods and services
  • Use good procurement practises and commercial experience to achieve best commercial terms and product quality
  • Manage and build relationships with far east supply base
  • Co-ordinate international shipping from overseas suppliers
  • Manage and develop strong working relationships with supply base and internal stakeholders
  • Deal with post PO issues such as invoice and booking in queries
  • Own and manage technical query process between supplier and Kane engineers
  • Identify and assess new supply options for current and upcoming purchasing requirements

Construction Category Manager

This is a key role within an expanding procurement team.  Located in Hertfordshire with good transport links the team operate out of expansive offices, and with several large construction projects on the horizon they are looking to bring on board an experienced Category Manager to support the function in its next phase of development. 

You will be responsible for providing commercial procurement services across a wide spectrum of Capital Delivery, & Construction related activities including Works projects both small and large scale, FM Hard Services and FM Soft Services.  You will ensure that the procurement and supply chain objectives of the department are consistently achieved and are in support of the strategic plan and vision.  You’ll also be required to develop and manage supplier relationships to ensure value for money, and provide technical expertise in advising, guiding, and executing end-to-end procurement processes. 

 

Your profile and background will include: 

  • Sound knowledge and good experience of the NEC suite of contracts. 
  • Procurement experience in the public sector or another regulated industry.
  • You will be experienced managing stakeholder groups, skilled in delivering tangible value for money and you'll have experience working within cross functional teams coupled with the proven ability and confidence to engage with and influence stakeholders from a variety of backgrounds, and with mixed personalities. 
  • You'll be a personable and self-motivated individual with strong verbal and written communication skills.
