Interim Manufacturing Manager

An Interim Manufacturing Manager is urgently required to join our client, a technology manufacturing company in West Suffolk / Bury St Edmunds. 8 month fixed term contract, site based role, paying up to £90K p/a on a pro rata basis. 

Leading a high value, low volume, complex manufacturing site the main objective of the contract is to cover long-term illness. The ongoing absence of the permanent jobholder, along with the impacts of global inflation and Brexit is resulting in increased lead times, rising material costs and a lack of onsite leadership.

Responsible for the manufacture of premium, technically advanced products with full accountability for H&S, environmental, customer, quality, cost and delivery. Initially steadying the operation, your efforts will then develop and foster an environment of Continuous Improvement and implement Lean Manufacturing methodologies whilst offering the team increased support and personal development through inspirational leadership.

 

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Ensure that products are manufactured in a cost effective, timely manner meeting specifications and quality requirements
  • Deliver manufacturing production plans
  • Set Manufacturing and Production KPI’s, review and assess ongoing performance. 
  • Manage Production and Manufacturing departments.
  • Maintain the high focus on Health & Safety via ongoing reviews of accidents/near misses
  • Responsible for the manufacturing budget, forecasts and Cap Ex proposals
  • Lead the team in contributing ESG initiatives, ensure environmental considerations, improvements and targets are included in all operations
  • Ensure a continuous improvement culture is embedded, develop and train methodologies
  • Ensure excellent communication between departments to resolve manufacturing issues effectively and promptly
  • Recruit, develop and coach a high performing manufacturing team
  • Create an environment of trust and transparency where everyone is working to their optimal level and has opportunities to grow
  • Communicate and maintain good relationships with Union to ensure ongoing respectful collaboration

 

Whom we are looking for:

Suitable applicants will have a proven record of accomplishment within a similar high value, low volume, complex manufacturing environment. The ability to start ASAP and commit to a period of 8 months is essential.

  • Relevant manufacturing/engineering degree, or HND Btec Professional level 5 Award
  • Extensive manufacturing / plant management experience
  • Ideally, your career success has been gained within sectors to include: Electronics, Electrical, Electro-Mechanical, IT hardware, Consumer electronics etc.
  • Expert Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen etc. continuous improvement methodologies
  • Proficiency in managing financial budgets and forecasting
  • Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), SAP, or Sales Force systems experience is beneficial
  • Understanding of relevant IOSH/NEBOSH, ISO standards
  • Excellent leadership and people management skills
  • Proven problem solving, team building, planning and decision making success
  • Commercial and Financial acumen.
  • Located locally / within a commutable distance – this is a site based role
  • Able to work 2 nights per month
  • Able to start work at short notice
  • Eligible to work and remain in the UK for at least 8 months

 

What is on offer?

8 month, fixed term contract

Pro rata salary up to £90K, £7500 per month, £60K for 8 months. Bonus on completion, Medical Insurance, Pension

Interim FM Contract Manager

Interim FM Contract Manager opportunity, initially 6 months, £400 - £450 per day (inside IR35), London based client (can be 100% remote or 1 day a week in the office).
If you have either a contract management or procurement experience within the facilities management spend area then this could be the role for you.

My client has a 6 month opportunity for an interim FM Contract Manager to work in a team who will be managing the delivery of hard and soft FM services which is being provided by an outsourced partner. Experience of NEC forms of contract knowledge of the Public Sector / OJEU / PCR 2015 regulations is desirable but not essential.

Category Manager, Research and Lab Supplies

We currently have an interim requirement available for an individual  with specific experience in the sourcing and/or outsourcing of laboratory services.  The assignment will be 6 months in duration and the post holder will be responsible for developing and delivering a commercially focused category management strategy for all Research and Lab Supplies and Services procurement needs. This approach will need to ensure continuity of supply, manage commercial and legislative risk relating to Procurement, deliver value for money, and take into account the wider impact of procurement on the economy and sustainability.



You will be responsible for leading and advising colleagues on all procurement and contract management activity, ensuring outcomes are aligned to the organisation’s strategic priorities. You will translate the vision of the department and the wider organisation into tangible goals, managing performance through taking key decisions, planning, risk management and regular communication relating to the relevant category area.

Commercial Lead

This is a 6 month contract with a central London office location but with the option to be home based for 3 days of the week.

We are looking for a strong commercial manager, highly competent with strategic procurement/contracts management experience and with a sound PCR15 knowledge.  You will also have an advanced understanding of Crown Commercial Services Frameworks and other contracting routes. 

 

Day Rate: £550-600pd (inside IR35)

Length of Contract: 6 months

Location: London

Weekly Work Pattern: 3 days home/2 days office

The role specifics

  • To ensure that the underlying contracts relating to your assigned project are managed effectively and the sought-after outcomes are delivered.
  • To provide commercial advice to customers on a range of matters across the entire commercial lifecycle, in line with best practice.
  • To lead in commercial meetings with the supplier(s) to defend the department’s position and work to ensure that both the customer and the supplier(s) adhere to the contract obligations.
  • To draft and ensure strict adherence to contract management plans to promote effective contract management.

Buyer ( 12mth Contract )

Our client a rapidly growing wholesaler is seeking to hire multiple Buyers on a 12 month fixed term contract basis. Salary £28k – £38K with great benefits. Nottingham office with hybrid home working on a 2/3 split

The primary focus of the buyer is to identify and maximise opportunities with suppliers, ensure quality product availability, develop supplier relationships and create new supplier partnerships to meet and exceed our customer expectations. 

The Buyer is a key member within the procurement team and is responsible for maintaining and improving supplier performance and negotiating competitive terms from Global suppliers within your category.

By identifying cost reduction opportunities, you will use your procurement experience to realise monetary savings without compromising on quality or delivery.

 

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Lead performance and spend for your global suppliers based both in the UK and internationally
  • Negotiation of pricing, rebates, supply chain agreements and supplier contracts
  • Deliver cost reduction initiatives through negotiation
  • Sourcing of new suppliers both ensuring conformance to quality standards and certification
  • Identify opportunities for improvement and speedy resolution of purchasing issues

Whom we are looking for:

  • A demonstrable history of buying/purchasing/procurement within a fast-moving sector
  • Proven track record of sourcing finished goods and products from a global supply base
  • Knowledge and experience of commercial buying and understanding of supply chain techniques
  • Experience in successfully managing multiple supplier accounts both in the UK and globally
  • Strong commercial and financial awareness
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to work closely and influence others
  • Ideally, be working towards a CIPs qualification
  • Degree education is desirable
  • Advance or intermediate Excel user
