Procurement Manager

Procurement Manager – salary to c£43k + car allowance and excellent benefits.

My client, a progressive Public Sector organisation, is looking to recruit a Procurement Manager to lead and influence projects from a commercial, category and sourcing perspective.

The successful candidate will have the following experience:

  • Hands-on procurement / category management ideally within construction and/or housing related spend areas.
  • Experience of engaging with stakeholders at a senior level to drive and manage change and deliver the strategic priorities.
  • Previous experience in Public Sector procurement / OJEU / PCR2015 is essential.
  • CIPS / MCIPS qualifications are desirable although not essential.

This role will be a mix of home / office based with some SE England travel.

Commercial/Procurement Director

Langley Search & Interim has been retained by a global professional services company to find a Commercial/ Procurement Director.

You should have the following:

  1. A deep understanding of how Financial Services operates including regulatory issues, remediation/customer claims, auditing, M&A, etc.
  2. Senior procurement experience in Financial Services. You will have the knowledge & understanding of A the way procurement/commercial teams operate in these sectors, their constraints, metrics, processes, mindsets & commercial strengths & weaknesses.
  3. Deep experience of working in procurement in senior roles in the Professional Services  or Services Category areas may be advantageous
  4. Strong interpersonal/influencing & communication skills at ‘C’ level both internally and externally. Assertive and articulate and can ‘pace & lead’ senior stakeholders with confidence leading to successful commercial outcomes
  5. The skills to develop and lead a small team reporting to you and act as an appropriate role model.
  6. A team player who is not interested in the glory.  Able to cope with ambiguity and balance conflicting priorities balancing workload to get the optimum outcomes.
  7. Be a proven strong strategic negotiator who can show you have developed new successful strategies and commercial models.  You will have delivered successful contracts with multi-million pound value and criticality. An understanding of complex contracts including multi-entity/multi-country or global contracts may be advantageous.
  8. Of degree calibre, MBA and/or CIPS is desirable.


Ideally this role will be based out of London although other locations will be considered. Considerable flexibility around working location is offered although part of the week will be London based.

Category Lead - IT (Application Development & Management)

Langley is currently working with a high profile organization with a £multi-billion spend.

We are looking for a Category Lead – IT.  As a senior role, you would have full accountability for developing the Application Development & Management market, which will require a level of flair and innovation to support supplier and customers in all procurements resulting in compliant, ‘best value’ buying, ultimately producing continuous savings, benefitting the department.

The role will challenge your leadership skills and require you to bring consistency, direction and performance across your team, with detailed focus on stakeholder engagement, market analysis, driving market strategies and category growth.

As this is a senior opportunity within the department, successful candidates will need to have proven ability in Strategy Development, Operational Delivery or Customer Engagement.

The role can be based in either London or Norwich.

IT Category Manager

My Client a niche procurement consultancy is currently looking for a specialist IT Category Manager. The IT Category Manager will report into the Director Onsite at one of their prominent clients. You will be helping their clients gain best value from their IT portfolio.  You will join the current team in delivering strategic and tactical IT procurement projects in IT categories.


You will work closely with the client to run tendering processes, IT contract negotiations and with ongoing vendor management.  You will get immediately involved in projects that are currently running and must be able to manage procurement projects to tight deadlines. 


This is a great opportunity for someone wanting to see a diverse set of projects and experience technology, sourcing and procurement in a very interesting sector.


Skills required:


  • IT/ sourcing and procurement experience, across the categories of hardware, software, telecoms & professional services.
  • Expertise in Contract drafting and negotiation,
  • Building relationships with key divisions and individuals to ascertain and understand stakeholder, business and customer requirements, strategy, challenges and opportunities. 
  • Experience of the project lifecycle, IT implementations and life in IT departments
  • Experience of developing best practice governance, procedures and policies which protect the business from risk

Experience Required:

  • Ideally educated to degree level or equivalent and CIPS, MCIPS or FCIPS qualified.
  • Procurement technical skills including negotiation skills, contract drafting, drafting of relevant RfPs etc and use of category management techniques in setting category plans
  • The ability to draw together requirements across multiple or individual business units and gain consensus on the procurement plan from the business
  • Excellent interpersonal/influencing skills.
  • Demonstrate you are a team player, a good networker who will add value to any team.
