My Client a FMCG manufacturer urgently need to hire a Supply Chain Manager on a 3 month basis to help manage their day to day operations. This role has arisen due to the current job holder being seconded to a project that will last at least 3 months

The successful applicant will be able to hit the ground running and ensure that the day to day Supply Chain, Logistics, Demand Planning and Production teams continue to operate with no loss of service

You’ll need to be comfortable rolling up your sleeves and getting stuck in by helping to cover staff shortages and offer support to the team at busy times. Equally you’ll be leading the strategic considerations and work with stakeholders at all levels to ensure that the supply chain continues to meet the needs of the wider business as it continues to grow

 

Key Responsibilities Include:

Daily management of the end to end supply chain including S&OP, demand planning, supply planning, production, logistics and customer services

Responsible for leading and managing a team of staff
Lead the Supply Chain agenda and S&OP within the business

Work with suppliers, communicating performance standards, set up contracts ensuring they maximise profitability for the business

Lead the negotiations around supply quality and service issues and provide feedback on quality and delivery performance to ensure continuous improvement in these areas

Manage stock and inventory which balance: cash-flow, product lead-times and turn rates

Work with the Operations to ensure the effective sourcing of materials

Lead the Supply Chain agenda within the business, setting clear goals and expectations

Who we are looking for:

Suitable applicants will have strong end to end supply chain management awareness

Have excellent knowledge of Logistics, Demand Planning, Supply Planning, S&OP and Production

Have a demonstrable history of supply chain success gained within the FMCG sectors: Drinks, Food Cosmetics, Personal care or similar fast moving consumer goods categories

A proven track record of managing 3PL providers

My client, a progressive Public Sector linked organisation, are looking to recruit a Procurement Manager to lead and influence projects from a commercial, category and sourcing perspective. Working in a greenfield / brownfield environment this role offers the successful candidate the real opportunity to really influence and shape the direction of the procurement function.

Reporting into the Head of Procurement, the successful candidate will have the following experience:

Category Buyer

Langley Search & Interim are urgently seeking a Buyer to manage all ingredients category spend for a FMCG Food manufacturer in Leicestershire on a fixed term contract for 12months. 

 

The Category Buyer will manage ingredient procurement across a food category with spend in the region of £25million per annum and be required to travel to multiple sites including: Head office, factories, manufacturing sites and supplies

Your approach will be collaborative & team orientated, you will be able to provide evidence of the success that you deliver based on your career success to date.

Procurement is well established internally and is transforming from a tactical to strategic sourcing function, there is a huge opportunity to deliver value for money (above and beyond just savings) including supporting innovation and risk management. 

Key to success will be your ability to build strong relationships across multiple sites and functional areas with credibility - building strong relationships with the supply base and customers will also be essential.

You will be comfortable working within a complex, fast moving, dynamic and rapidly growing business. This will be combined with an eye for detail, when dealing with more administrative elements of the day to day workload, with the ability to lead and manage change, drive projects and move to a strategic procurement function.

 

Key Responsibilities Include:

Responsible for all category buying across wide range of ingredients including but not limited to: Herbs, Spices, Stocks, Sauces, Additives

Manage the purchasing budget of circa £25m per annum

Negotiate terms and contracts with the existing supplier base

Identify, scope and verify potential new suppliers. Constantly seek to identify new suppliers and work with them to develop and launch new and innovative products

Support the central procurement function and broader business by making informed, market leading buying decisions across the business to become a key supply partner to major food retailers and gain competitive advantage via closer collaboration

Develop and improve ethical and responsible sourcing to align environmental, price and quality factors into a best practice sourcing model

Partner with suppliers to build collaborative and integrated joint strategies and processes

Identify supply risks and threats, build contingency plans to meet rapidly changing customer demands and minimise supply risk

 

About you:

Existing UK FMCG sector experience combined with strong purchasing and procurement knowledge is essential. Applicants whose CV’s do not clearly demonstrate these 2 key criteria will not be considered

Ideally you will be immediately available or able to start a new role in under 2 weeks

Proven track record of purchasing ingredients to be used in the manufacturing of food

Demonstrable history of procuring a wide range of ingredients from a complex and sizeable supply base

Able to work in a highly autonomous manner. You must be able to drive and deliver change in partnership with colleagues, suppliers and factories utilizing your own initiative and career success to date

Comfortable managing all elements of the procurement model: From analysis, identification and implementation of new purchasing processes and procedures up to leading and driving incremental change and major projects

Have an eye for detail. Be able to identify tactical / smaller improvements with small areas of complex spend

Your CV will demonstrate your ability to reduce costs, develop purchasing strategies and work in a collaborative and commercial manner with stakeholders at all levels

Car owner / Driver: It is essential that candidates can travel with ease to a variety of locations on a regular basis, occasionally at short notice

Ideally you will have CIPS or be studying for this qualification and be of graduate calibre

You must be eligible to work and remain in the UK for a period of at least 12 months

Head of Commercial

Up to £58k plus benefits

Langley Search & Interim is retained by a public sector organization to find them a Head of Commercial/Procurement reporting to their Associate Commercial Director based in the South West or other flexible locations.  Leading a team of c. 12 you will manage and deliver sound & effective commercial contracts for a wide range of category areas.

Ideally you will have the following:

  1. Ability to recruit, lead, manage and develop a team – excellent coaching skills. Acts as a role model to support and energise the team
  2. Able to develop an effective commercial pipeline with the identification of timelines, risks, mitigations and deliverables in liaison with key stakeholders.   Implementation of the plan to schedule while maximizing benefits and minimising and mitigating risks. Excellent programme management skills to track delivery.
  3. Can demonstrate management of large, complex commercial negotiations to ensure business requirements are met especially where complex & unusual contracts are being negotiated
  4. Knowledge of the PCR2015 and its use to ensure compliant processes are known and followed.  Public Sector procurement experience is preferred but not essential.
  5. Able to manage the commercial lifecycle including providing adequate and appropriate challenge on contracts and implementing best practice SRM practices.  Evidence of introducing innovation and lateral thinking – not afraid to challenge traditional ways of working.
  6. Provide optimum liaison with other governmental bodies to ensure that best practice is learned and developed
  7. Ideally CIPS qualified (or equivalent) & of graduate calibre.  MBA or equivalent an advantage
  8. Excellent communication and influencing skills – able to build excellent professional relationships with key stakeholders whilst remaining resilient

Our client is a very successful FMCG manufacturing business producing well-known brands.  They have retained Langley to find an Interim Head of Indirect Procurement  to lead a small team.  The role will be home based initially with some travelling to sites (including London) & around the UK as Covid restrictions are eased.  The role reports to the CPO and will have particular emphasis on the following category areas:  HR, Professional Services and Travel & Expenses categories.
