Procurement Specialist, Direct Materials

The role:

  • To support the Category Manager on a variety of procurement projects, developing clear and detailed sourcing plans within your assigned areas of spend. 
  • To draft, negotiate and agree clear, concise, and complete contractual documentation.
  • To inform and support the development of category strategies through extensive internal and external research and analysis to support the wider organisational strategy. 
  • To ensure market developments and innovation are monitored and considered to continually align and update sourcing and category strategies, identifying opportunities which can create a competitive advantage for the organisation. 
  • To work with cross functional project teams to deliver projects on time and with the best outcome for the organisation. 
  • To establish an effective network and influence internal stakeholders, to support procurement objectives and decision making. 
  • To maintain full compliance with all contract governance activities within agreed processes and timescales, ensuring all appropriate parties are consulted and informed.

  • An organised and efficient purchasing specialist who can demonstrate credible, trusted stakeholder engagement at all levels. 
  • An analytical thinker with the proven ability to navigate and interpret multiple data sources to inform commercial, legal / contracting and supply decisions. 
  • An individual with strong, professional, and refined negotiation skills coupled with sound commercial acumen and understanding of complex organisational issues. 
  • An excellent project manager committed to providing high levels of service. 
  • Ability to spot opportunities from an existing client base.

We are seeking applications from energetic, self-motivated, and ambitious procurement professionals.  You will be joining a progressive, award-winning team where personal development is actively encouraged.  Within this role you will be eligible for CIPS training, and you will have the opportunity to work alongside some fantastic mentors with responsibility for a varied spend portfolio.  Your experience will sit within largely indirect procurement focused positions, and you will have a practical knowledge of the end-to-end tendering process covering any of the following category areas of spend: 

Professional Services, HR, Staffing & Consultancy, IT/Telco, Utilities, Travel, Fleet, Facilities Management (Hard & Soft), Capital Goods, MRO

ICT Procurement Category Specialist

An opportunity has arisen to join an award-winning procurement team at an exciting point in its growth.  We are looking for an individual with the right level of ambition and tenacity to take full ownership of the Information & Communication Technology category.  With some big projects on the horizon, the procurement team is expanding, and it’ll be your responsibility to ensure that procurement support is aligned to the structure, objectives & culture of the function, becoming an enabler to the ICT stakeholder business plan, objectives, and deliverables. 

About you

  • You’ll be well positioned to assist ICT colleagues (and other colleagues as required) in all aspects of procurement including contract specifications, sourcing options, tendering processes and pricing strategies. 
  • You’ll have extensive experience managing the procurement of ICT systems and services, renewals and extensions to ensure compliance with legal and internal obligations (including GDPR). 
  • You’ll ideally have some knowledge and experience of EU Public Procurement Directives and the Public Contract Regulations 2015. 
  • You’ll have a detailed market and technical knowledge of ICT in a business environment and extensive experience of working across multiple IT disciplines, including Hardware, Software and Telecommunications. 
  • You’ll have an excellent understanding of eProcurement/P2P systems together with an appreciation of project management principles and methodologies. 
  • You’ll ideally have a practical working knowledge of public sector tendering and contracting procedures including Framework Agreements. 
  • You’ll have a commitment to Continuing Professional Development and Procurement Best Practice.
