Senior Procurement Manager - Policy and Contracts

We are currently recruiting for an Interim Procurement Policy, Governance and Best Practice opportunity to work for our London based client.

This is an excellent opportunity to develop sustainable procurement policies, with a focus on the strengthening social value benefit though commercial contracting.

The successful candidate will ideally have a broad knowledge of Public Sector (OJEU / PCR2015) procurement regulations from within a Local Authority environment.

Interim Head of Indirect Procurement

Our client is a very successful FMCG manufacturing business producing well-known brands.  They have retained Langley to find an Interim Head of Indirect Procurement  to lead a small team.  The role will be home based initially with some travelling to sites (including London) & around the UK as Covid restrictions are eased.  The role reports to the CPO and will have particular emphasis on the following category areas:  HR, Professional Services and Travel & Expenses categories. 

You will have the following:

  • Deep category experience of the HR, Professional Services and T& E Categories of spend – please do not apply if you do not have this experience!
  • The ability to develop and deliver source/category plans in these areas
  • Team leader skills – leading , developing and mentoring
  • A high level of influencing and communication skills
  • Ideally you will have delivered in an FMCG manufacturing environment
  • Resilient – able to deliver and change ways of working, taking key stakeholders with you
  • Ideally CIPS qualified or equivalent, degree level
  • Act as a role model for the rest of the team – not interested in the glory

Interim Construction Category Manager

Interim Proc Manager - manufacturing

Langley Search & Interim is retained by a global manufacturing business to find an Interim Manager to support a number of manufacturing related procurement projects including MRO, capex, IT system buying etc.  The role involves delivery of 20+ projects with the agenda of improving the contracts including costs, risk, specification delivery etc. You will  report to the Procurement Director and the role may involve some international travel.  The role is based in Hertfordshire with some home working available.

Interim Proc Manager - Air Freight

Langley Search & Interim is retained by a global manufacturing business to find an Interim Manager to review their global air & sea freight spend.  This process will involve the development of a longer term category plan with detailed analysis of spend with 3rd parties, benchmarking & review of current contracts, drawing up RFI/RFQ’s if required and working down their supply chains to elicit benefits.

You will report to the Procurement Director and the role will involve some international travel.  The role is based in Hertfordshire although currently there is some home working available.

You will have the following:

  1. Deep knowledge and experience in managing the air & sea freight category with proven evidence of delivering in this category
  2. Excellent programme and project manager experience
  3. The ability to work strategically and tactically to develop and implement the category plan – not frightened to get into the detail but able to helicopter up strategically
  4. Excellent analysis skills including use of Excel spreadsheets and other tools
  5. Excellent communication skills – able to work with Board level stakeholders and senior people in key current and potential suppliers. A good influencer
  6. A team player – not interested in the glory, but who will drive to get results
  7. Excellent negotiation skills with a developed and balanced commercial approach
  8. Ideally of graduate calibre and CIPS qualified

Purchasing Category Manager

Langley Search & Interim is seeking multiple Category Buyers to manage Direct spend for a large FMCG Food manufacturing client to be based within the Group Procurement function.

These roles are initially to be offered for a period of 8 months on a fixed term contract basis. Based remotely, you will be home based with occasional UK based travel required to manufacturing sites.

You will manage direct procurement across a category within Packaging / Food / Ingredients and be involved within multiple sites across the Group.

Your approach will be collaborative & team orientated and you will be able to provide evidence of the success that you deliver.  Procurement is well established internally and there is a huge opportunity to deliver value for money (above and beyond just savings) including supporting innovation and risk management.  Key to success will be your ability to build strong relationships across multiple sites and functional areas with credibility - building strong relationships with the supply base (and customers) will also be essential.

Key Responsibilities Include:

Negotiate contract terms with the supplier base

Credibly manage, demonstrate and deliver against category source plans including packaging/food/ingredients areas.  A knowledge of the supply base in these areas may be beneficial.  

A good communicator – able to influence and work remotely with key stakeholders at all levels.

Support the procurement function and broader business to make informed and market leading decisions within the categories to become a key supply partner and gain competitive advantage

Develop and improve ethical and responsible sourcing to align environmental, price and quality factors into a best practice sourcing model

Partner with suppliers to build collaborative and integrated joint strategies and processes

Identify supply risks and threats, build contingency plans to meet rapidly changing customer demands and minimise supply risk

About you:

Ideally you will have CIPS or be studying for this qualification and be of graduate calibre

(You must be able to travel across the UK)

Strong FMCG / Food Procurement Direct spend experience within packaging or ingredients categories

Able to start work immediately or at short notice

Happy to accept and commit to an 8 month Fixed Term contract based assignment

Whats on offer:

An 8 month fixed term contract

Pro rata salary in the region of £35,000 to £50,000 per annum
