Role

  • The Materials Controller is responsible for ensuring that materials are ordered and effectively managed within the required timescales meeting the demands of the Master Production Schedule.
  • The person will work with suppliers and cross functionally with Planning, Operations, Warehouse and Procurement to ensure timely delivery of incoming products.
  • To manage supplier performance on a day-to-day basis including weekly expediting and understanding of any potential risks to plans.
  • Elevation of any problems and driving through corrective actions agreed.
  • Managing Non Conformance issues in line with the Supply Chain Manager and ensuring corrective actions are firmly in place and any compensation owed, is effectively delivered.
  • Establish and ensure compliance to clear inventory policies and procedures. 
  • Playing a key role in the implementation of the Company’s investment in a new ERP System, going forwards.

 

Requirements

  • Ensuring sufficient inventory of materials and services to meet customer and business needs.
  • Maintain maximum and minimum stock levels to ensure timely material availability.
  • Work closely with Production Planner to forecast levels of demand for materials and services to meet customer and business needs adjusting as appropriate in reaction to changes
  • Analyse production demand by building systems and reports through MRP and ERP.
  • Ensure stock accuracy and transactional precision within operations and business systems data.
  • Contribute to Risk Management through close supplier relationships and market awareness.
  • Manage supplier and sub-contractor delivery schedules and ensure compliance with quality specification.
  • Assist investigating raw material variances and actions to correct data. •
  • Analyse existing processes and KPIs, supporting improvements and implement actions
  • Weekly reporting of direct and indirect Materials and order cover within the supply chain.
  • Undertake regular supplier development and vendor rating to drive service improvement and provide a measure for the quality provided
  • Purchase business related items driving cost efficiencies and general administration as required.

 

Person

  • Experience gained within a manufacturing environment
  • Material Management Experience
  • Understanding of inventory control process
  • Solid experience of MRP transactions
  • IT literate

Job Description

Main role and responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a successful international supply chain strategy
  • Experience in developing supply chains around components, electronic assemblies & metal fabrication
  • Implement and drive a robust cost reduction programme that increases profitability year on year.
  • Ensure supply chain processes meet legal requirements and standards
  • Previous experience as a supply chain manager and team leadership experience
  • Experience of planning people and machines
  • Budget planning, business plan development and close involvement with finance
  • Experience of dealing with material handling fleet, managing 3rd party relationships
  • Good understanding of external suppliers indirect and direct
  • Development of employees and teams

 

Candidate Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree
  • Possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Develop and deploy creative/original solutions to complex problems
  • Thorough understanding of company policies and procedures
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and leadership skills.

Procurement & Supply Chain Consultant

My Client, a leading Consulting firm is currently looking for a Procurement Consultant.  The Procurement Consultant will help clients stakeholders gain best value from their Construction & Built Environment contract portfolio. 

You will work closely with the Delivery Teams and provide Procurement & Supply Chain consultancy. You will help clients and run tendering processes, contract negotiations and ongoing vendor management.  You will get immediately involved in projects that are currently running and must be able to manage procurement projects to tight deadlines. 

This is a great opportunity for someone wanting to see a diverse set of projects and experience sourcing and procurement in a very interesting sector.

Skills required:

  • Extensive experience in Procurement & Supply Chain Management in Built Environment
  • Experience in drafting procurement strategies and tender evaluation reports for construction projects
  • Expertise in Contract drafting and negotiation, ideally with the CIPS contract law module
  • Building relationships with key clients and delivery teams to ascertain and understand stakeholder, business and customer requirements, strategy, challenges and opportunities.
  • Ability to plan and manage a tendering process from inception to Contract Award on significant projects;
  • Experience in developing best practice governance, procedures and policies which protect the business from risk

Experience Required:

  • Experience in the Construction & Built environment would be advantageous but not essential
  • Ideally educated to degree level or equivalent and MCIPS
  • Understanding and application of contract forms such as NEC, JCT, FIDIC. Experience in other forms
  • Procurement technical skills including negotiation skills, contract drafting, drafting of relevant RfPs etc and use of category management techniques in setting category plans
  • Excellent interpersonal/influencing skills.
