Head of Supply Chain - Retail - North West London

Our client is a leading retailer in consumer electronics.  They are looking for a strong Supply Chain Professional to Head the Retail Supply Chain function with the objective to deliver maximum levels of customer availability whilst minimising inventory levels, reduced levels of returns and unwanted stock at least cost.

The role is responsible for logistics; reverse logistics and merchandise planning, concentrating on Merchandise Planning (forecasting, ordering and movement of c.£1bn of inventory ) and Reverse Logistics (the physical handling and the subsequent asset recovery of £100m of inventory pa.).

As a key member of the cross-functional Trading and Supply Chain leadership team you will set strategic direction and lead the Supply Chain team to maximise availability and stock, creating the culture for  team development.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

* Ensure team operational processes are documented, maintained and implemented effectively to manage all elements of inventory planning Major activity planning and implementation

* Lead programme to improve supplier performance through collaboration and SLA management

* Review & measure reasons for returns, & drive improvement through influencing business activity to minimise

* Drive efficiency improvements in the physical handling process of returns in to ensure it reaches its final disposition quickly and at least cost

* Identify, establish & manage the most commercially sound disposition routes for all returns and obsolete stock.

Requirements

A proven track record of Retail Supply Chain improvement gained from working within a UK blue chip retail organisation and leadership of a Supply Chain Function, you will be a strong commercial manager, with first class communication and analytical skills and the ability to work cross-function and cross-business divisions. Retail buying experience would be beneficial.

Of degree calibre or professional qualification, with the ability to solve operational problems and identify opportunities to develop and improve existing processes in order to improve performance and efficiencies, including demonstrable record of implementing successful supplier performance improvement programmes, and knowledge of supplier manufacturing processes would be beneficial.

Knowledge of ERP and SAP implementation would be advantageous but not essential.
