Outline:   The National Procurement Service at the Welsh Government  retained  Langley to support a major transformation programme in their Procurement Team following the appointment of a new Director

How we handled the search: Langley was appointed after a competitive process and Langley had previously working with the new Director. We carried out a full search which included obtaining referrals, advertising, searching in relevant organisations and we used our extensive database.  We scored candidates against the Civil Service Competency Framework and Job Criteria to ensure that candidates were screened effectively.  The number of candidates selected for interview was 75 and  after a one-stage assessment process/interview, 11 candidates were appointed with one position being filled internally.

What difference did our candidates make? We received the following recommendation from our client:

‘I am delighted that we have managed to fill so many posts with high calibre candidates via retaining Langley and as you know I would not hesitate to use Langley again for external recruitment’

This team has subsequently extended their remit across other Welsh organisations.

Time to appointment: There was a rigorous process of assessment and security vetting which impacted the time to appointment. On average the process to fill the roles took c. 6 months.
