Client: International FMCG business
Role: Head of Logistics - Northern Europe.

Outline: Retained by our client, a leading international FMCG business that was undergoing a global restructuring. They needed to look outside of the business for the relevant skills and experience within the supply chain function. The current team was primarily operational and they needed to bring in a logistics expert with a strategic mindset and strong stakeholder management skills to deal with the number of international business units in their European Region.
How we handled the search: The client took our advice on salary banding after a detailed discussion on the role at the initial briefing session. We commenced to search, identifying a long list through our Research Team, networking and some limited advertising taking four weeks to shortlist. Initial face-to- face competency based interviews were conducted through the Langley 360™ and we developed a final short list of six candidates. The full detailed profiles were submitted to the client and discussed at the shortlisting meeting. All six candidates were invited to attend a first stage interview, three proceeded to the second stage and 2 went through to the final stage. The successful candidate was from a competitor based internationally who relocated with his family for the position.
What difference did our candidates make? Since joining they have transformed the logistics processes in the business, leading to much improved customer fulfilment and a reduction in costs.
Time to appointment: 8 weeks from start of assignment to completion, and appointed within the salary banding.
